A short film about the power of the imagination.
In this short film, a young girl named Iris is transformed by her encounter with an engraving from a nineteenth century book. Tired of the offerings of the virtual world, nine- year-old Iris wanders down Fifth Avenue and into the New York Public Library’s Picture Collection. Following the lead of the adults around her, she pulls out a few pictures to look at. Suddenly, the engraving of an aye-aye springs to life and takes Iris - and the audience - on a phantasmagorical animated journey through myriad collage worlds created entirely from the Picture Collection's holdings, an archive of over a million image clippings that celebrates its centennial in 2015.
